High School
In High School, students focus on learning music technique through many performances and concerts throughout the year. Freshman and new students are encouraged to join Concert Choir, then move on to the top performing groups, which are Singers and Chorale.
Hesston Singers |
The Hesston High Singers is an auditioned group limited to 24 student singers who are also enrolled in Chorale. This group performs at every concert and contest as well as community events such as Christmas Caroling, Singing Valentines, and a Variety Show every April.
This group is available to perform at local events. Please contact Mrs. Tolle by email to inquire about scheduling a performance. |
Chorale |
Chorale is a choir for grades 10-12. Students in this class must be approved by the director. This choir performs at all concerts and contests, and sings a song during graduation.

Concert Choir |
Concert Choir is a non-auditioned choir open to all grades for anyone interested in singing. This choir performs at all concerts and contests, and focuses on developing reading skills and vocal technique.

Musical |
Every fall semester, students have the opportunity to be involved in a musical. Auditions are held in May, rehearsals are in the evenings and begin in late August, and it is performed during the second weekend in November. Recent musicals have included Seussical, Elf the musical and our upcoming show is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Middle School
In Middle School, students have the opportunity to explore vocal music through learning about music history, theory, contemporary composition, sight-singing and improving their own singing technique.
7/8 Grade Choir5/6 Grade Choir/General MusicGuitar/Ukulele Class |
All 7th and 8th graders in choir rehearse every day during first hour of encore classes. In this choir, students develop intermediate skills in sight-singing and general music, as well as continue to develop proper singing technique.
Students in 5th and 6th grade who take choir are combined and split up into three sections, which meet every day. Students in this class learn about music history, how to sing properly, as well as begin intermediate sight singing and music reading skills.
This is school year open to 7th and 8th graders. Students will learn the basics of guitar/ukulele while developing their overall music skills.
